Slava Ilyayev was born in 1970 in Azerbaijan - the former U.S.S.R. He moved to Israel in 1995. His work is characterized by the heavy texture he creates by applying oil paints with a palette knife. The use of light and shadow in his works is inspired by the changing of the seasons. He has been participating in major art exhibits since 1999 and has found a love in teaching art as well.
